D&D 4th Edition Player's Handbook II Preview

Nearly since D&D 4th Edition hit the bookstores, it was known (or at least anticipated) that a second Player's Handbook was to come out. Many questions revolve around its content so here is all the information we could gather about it. Stay tuned for more as soon as new details will be revealed by Wizards of the Coast.

General Information

- Release date: March 17, 2009
- Authors: Rob Heinsoo and Mike Mearls

- Hardcover
- 224 pages
- Current list price: $34.95 ($27.03 on Amazon)

Player's Handbook 2 expands the range of options available to D&D players with new classes, races, powers, and other material. This book builds on the array of classes and races presented in the first Player's Handbook, adding both old favorites and new, never-before-seen options to the game. The book adds a new power source for 4th Edition D&D: classes using the new primal power source include the barbarian and the druid.

Classes

Wizards of the Coast confirm that many new classes will be available, but name only the following three:

- Barbarian
- Druid
- Sorcerer

Because the Arcane Power book annouced for April 21, 2009 is said to provide new archetypal builds for the wizard, warlock, sorcerer, bard, and swordmage, one can easily conclude that the bard and swordmage will be of the new player's handbook.

Races

Based on WotC's Spring 2009 catalog, the Players Handbook II will cover old and new races:

- Gnome
- Half-orc
- Goliath
- Maybe more...
