Spell description

When this spell is cast a sphere of pure magical energy expands outward form anywhere up to 60 feet out from the caster. As the spell expands up to its full size, it slowly loses power until it fades out completely. The sphere does 2d6 points of damage/level of the caster (up to a max of 48d6) but as it expands it loses 3d6 per every 10 yards out (i.e. 20th level caster 1st 10 yards out of clear area is 40d6, 2nd 10 yards is 37d6, etc.). Unless there is a solid barrier of at least 100 square feet area to stop the spell, it expands in all directions. The duration is instantaneous but the sphere expands at a rate of 200 yards/round.

At the end of the expansion the airless void left behind will rapidly refill with air, causing a gargantuan thunderclap from the onrushing air. All creatures not making save vs. para/pois are deafened permanently, those that do save are deafened for 1d6 turns.

The most problematic of the material components is also the one that generates the protective sphere around the caster. A pearl worth at least 5,000 GP is required for conjuration of the protection sphere. Upon completion of the first spell the pearl will turn red, after the second it will turn black, upon the casting of a third spell using the same pearl the protection sphere will fail to form, causing damage to the caster and all others that would have been in the sphere as though they were in the first 10 yards of effect. The other difficult material component to obtain is the spell trigger itself, (a glass rod enchanted with glassteel, anti-magic shell, and permanency) it can also be used only twice, but the effects of the failure are much more severe, (DM's: treat a failure of the trigger as putting a bag of holding into a portable hole), causing a rift in the prime material plane. Another note to DM's: this spell is extremely dangerous to use as listed, so feel free to change it a necessary.
