Spell description

This spell creates a roaring bolt of silvery power that extends forth athigh speed from the caster's pointed finger, rushing in a perfectly straightline to the extent of its range while blasting through any obstacle in itspath. Any animate target hit by the Dart suffers 2-9 (that is, 1d8+1) hitpoints of damage for every two levels of the caster, with no saving throw. In addition, any inanimate objects of a nonmagical nature struck by theDart must save versus crushing blow or be "Destroyed"--that is,blown into tiny bits of gravel, splinters, shrapnel, smithereens, etc. Thelimit of this "Destruction" is limited to those objects directlycontacted by the bolt, generally a few bricks of a wall, an enemy's shieldor breastplate, one or more window panes, a small shrub, etc. If the Darthits an object much larger than its area of effect can accomodate, suchas a large, solid statue, a wall of natural stone, a tree, a body of water,or a landscape feature, and the object fails its save, it will not be "Destroyed,"but rather have a perfectly circular hole blasted through it, of 1 inch/casterlevel in diameter. However, should the large object make its save, the boltwill be stopped. It should be kept in mind that the bolt exerts no actualforce and cannot push anything aside-- it can only "Destroy" it.In fact, someone hit by the Dart would probably be able to remain perfectlystill if not for the extreme pain he was experiencing. It should go withoutsaying that attempting to cast this spell inside any sort of submerged structureis an extremely stupid act. The material component for Rog the Destroyer'sDart of Destruction in a handful of some sort of smashed matter. The smithereensresulting from this spell are a good source of material components for futurecastings.
